Project Blackbird Monthly Lunch & Learn: March, Mental Health, Performance, & Resilience in Athletics featuring guest Dr. Mena Mirhom

Date & time

Overview

March Lunch & Learn | Mental Health, Performance & Resilience in Athletics Our March Lunch & Learn will feature Dr. Mena Mirhom, Executive Director of Athletes for Hope and a sports psychiatrist who works closely with elite athletes across levels of competition. This conversation will explore the intersection of mental health, performance, and resilience within athletic communities. Dr. Mirhom will share insight into the unique mental health challenges athletes face, how pressure, identity, and performance expectations impact well-being, and how coaches, educators, parents, and peers can better support athletes both on and off the field. The discussion will also highlight strategies for building resilience, reducing stigma, and creating healthier, more supportive athletic environments. This session is designed for anyone working with or supporting young people in sports—and for those interested in understanding how mental health care and performance can coexist in meaningful, sustainable ways. Project Blackbird’s Monthly Lunch & Learn is a recurring virtual gathering designed to create space for learning, connection, and open conversation around youth mental health and education. Each session begins with an informal “open office hours”–style introduction to Project Blackbird, where our founder shares updates on our work, answers questions, and offers a behind-the-scenes look at our programs and impact. From there, we welcome a special guest each month to lead a 20–30 minute educational conversation centered on the topic of the month, drawing from their lived experience or professional expertise. Following the discussion, attendees will break into guided networking breakout rooms to connect with others who are passionate about mental health, education, and community-driven change. Whether you’re new to Project Blackbird or have been part of our community for years, this Lunch & Learn series is an opportunity to learn, ask questions, share ideas, and build meaningful connections—one conversation at a time.
