The HBCU Legacy Tour brings Project Blackbird’s youth mental health programming directly to students on the campuses of Historically Black Colleges and Universities.

What the tour delivers

At every stop, students experience an original film screening, a facilitated conversation, a panel of professional athletes and role models the community actually looks up to, an on-site resource fair, and a clear pathway to free therapy through our partners. It meets young people of color where they already gather, and turns a hard conversation into a real next step.

Reach and scope

The tour is designed to reach 27 HBCUs across 10 markets — roughly 112,500 students, with eight of the ten metros home to more than a million people. The tour debuts on November 12, 2026 at Delaware State University, with its official launch at Morgan State University on February 13, 2027.

Why HBCUs

For young people of color, and young men in particular, stigma is heavier, culturally matched providers are scarcer, and cost puts care out of reach. The HBCU Legacy Tour is built to close that gap, on the campuses where it matters most.

Project Blackbird is a national youth mental health nonprofit (501(c)(3), EIN 92-0678276). To date we have reached more than 70,000 young people across 90+ events and school programs and funded over 800 therapy sessions for students.
